Shades of Gray is a backdoor pilot for The Confessions of Dorian Gray. It was released as part of the Bernice Summerfield set Legion. The Bernice Summerfield series is set in the far future while The Confessions of Dorian Gray are usually set in the 19th century through the early 21st century.

The canonical standing of the events in Shades of Gray is currently undetermined, however, Dorian does refer to someone named Spencer in The Fallen King of Britain and to date the only character by that name appears in Shades of Gray.

Synopsis[]

The story features archeologist Bernice 'Benny' Summerfield and her friends taking a job on the planet Legion that inadvertently results in them visiting portions of Dorian's past after they discover his portrait

Notes[]

The first flashback sequence makes an oblique retroactive reference to Running Away with You. The third flashback sequences is, in turn, referenced in The Fallen King of Britain.

The second flashback sequence contains a reference to The Crimson Pearl, the first of many Dark Shadows references, cameos, and crossovers throughout the series.
